Snowbird 2011

This is one vacation we look forward to all year long, weather that is because we know its going to happen every year or we just like snowboarding/skiing that much! Each year the first week of January my whole side of the family meets up at the Iron Blossom Lodge at Snowbird for a week for fun family time and lots of skiing!

We learned over the last few years due to missed ski days and getting stuck in the Canyon one too many times, that it's best to just plan on getting off the plane and going straight up to Snowbird, and then straight from Snowbird back to the airport. If we try to plan anything outside of that for that week it always just makes life more complicated. So we just tell our friends if they love us enough they can just come up to Snowbird while we are there otherwise we will just have to wait till our next Utah trip to get together!

The other thing we have learned due to a missed year of Snowbird (thanks to Samantha) is that you shouldn't get pregnant between the months of  March- June so that I am still eligible to ski during that first week of January.

This year my highlight other than the skiing and heated pool and the many "adventures" I went on with the little group of cousins, was the fun little announcement form my brother and his wife but a close second was the  indoor snowball fight! Especially watching mom hoard a stash of them in her shirt!

My sister was saving up for her Paris study abroad so she spent the week exercising her cosmetology skills. So I got some waxing done, hair cuts for the whole family, and an awesome facial! I might be addicted!

As one of the moms up there I get the pleasure of trading off babysitting. Its pretty fun to watch the kids interact with each other and to watch the relationships they develop that last well beyond the time they spend together. Madison just has a blast every time we get together with any of her cousins!

One of the nights I went in to check on Samantha and I found her sitting up in her crib. I thought this was pretty funny and wanted to share it. Its amazing the positions they can sleep in.
We took our Kincet with us too and that made for some fun night especially the Dance Central Game!

The week is mostly full of eating...

Games...

And chatting...
Or whatever it is they are doing here! :)

We love this week and we are so glad that My parents started this tradition because it is the only time we get to go snowboarding all year but its for a whole week on good snow, so that's a trade off I can live with!

The airplane ride home Madison made friends with the flight crew and even got her own set of wings that she kept as her prized possession for quite a while after we got home.

The girls also made up their own game when we were on our layover! It was pretty fun to watch them play together.
